Chancellor Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated that the island has “results in the promotion, protection and fulfillment of Human Rights, defending dialogue and cooperation, in favor of the rights of all people” Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla announced on Monday (12) that his country is a candidate for one of the vacancies in the United Nations Human Rights Council. The Caribbean country submitted its application to be part of the UN body (United Nations) during the period between 2021 and 2023. If it succeeds, it will be the first time that it forms part of the body. “Cuba's results in promoting, protecting and enforcing human rights support its candidacy and election to the Council. We are a country that conducts itself with its own voice, defending dialogue and cooperation, in favor of the rights of all people, ”stated Rodríguez Parrilla. The Human Rights Council has 43 member states, and was created in 2006 to replace the former Human Rights Commission, which was also linked to the UN.
