São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and the Federal District will gain 84 points for voluntary disposal of recyclable waste – also known as PEVs – installed by iFood.

The action is part of the celebrations for World Environment Day, which took place on June 5th.

“We are celebrating World Environment Day with the launch of the PEVs, which is an important step in the recycling process, but our commitment goes beyond a single day a year. We want to make a better, more sustainable future, and that's what we're moving towards”, says Gustavo Vitti, vice president of People, Diversity and Sustainable Solutions at iFood.

He explains that there are more than 400 tons of recyclable waste per month that the company is taking the streets and landfills and disposing of correctly. “And we're still just getting started,” he says.

iFood Regenerates

The voluntary disposal points for recyclable waste are launched in partnership with Instituto Muda, B2Blue, SO+MA, Molécoola, Recicla Orla, Coletando and Triciclo.

The creation of PEVs is part of the iFood Regenera program, which are the app's environmental goals and one of the objectives of which is to eliminate plastic pollution in delivery operations.

For this, iFood works on two fronts: avoid the use of disposable plastic and recycle what is already in circulation.

Awareness

In addition to helping with the collection of recyclable waste, the implementation of PEVs also intends to work on the environmental awareness of different people.

In Rio de Janeiro, iFood will install 56 PEVs between Copacabana, Leblon, Leme and Arpoador beaches.

In São Paulo, the initial focus will be on closed condominiums, supermarkets and communities in different regions of the city.
